First Impressions of Working at Movers+Shakers (Vol. 4)

What comes with being the #1 fastest-growing agency (according to Adweek)…the addition of amazing new talent! We’re so excited to introduce a few of our new faces and share their impeccable music taste and experience at Movers+Shakers so far.

Rylee Maron, Senior Copywriter

Hi, I’m Rylee. I’m currently posted up in Williamsburg, Brooklyn but originally from PA around Allentown (cue the Billy Joel song – that I don’t even know the words to if I’m being honest ). When I’m not on my copywriting game, you can find me exploring new restaurants, taking my newly-adopted doggo Nickelby to the dog park, or re-watching one of my favorite shows.

First impression of the leadership: Evan and Geoffrey are incredibly warm and welcoming. Not only that, but they're also involved and present which is a huge testament to their commitment to their employees and company.

First impression of the company: Forward-thinking. Fresh. Fun. A great place to really think outside the box and create some groundbreaking work with the best of the best creatives and thinkers.

First impression of our work: Exciting. Positive. Smart. Not only does the work make you smile but it's done in a strategic, insightful way.

What has been the most surprising thing? How kind, positive and just COOL everyone is! I figured they would be but they are just so welcoming and friendly that it's made my first couple of days a breeze.

What is your go-to album? John Mayer's "Where the Light Is"

Kiara Thompson, Associate Account Manager

I am Kiara, a California native, joining Movers+Shakers with 5 years of experience in Brand Marketing within the Beauty Industry. During my free time, I enjoy spending time with family, traveling the world, going to concerts, exploring L.A.’s culinary scene with friends, and balancing penchant for adventure with the occasional Netflix binge. I am beyond excited to be joining M+S and can’t wait to work with so many inspiring individuals!

First impression of the leadership: My first impression of leadership was fantastic! They were extremely inspiring, kind and attentive. My managers were consistently checking in to make sure my onboarding experience/ first week was off to a great start!

First impression of the company: My first impression of the company was amazing! The onboarding process was great. It was truly like no other that I have ever experienced before, especially virtually! Each team member was so hardworking, warm, funny, and helpful. The whole company made me feel like I was a part of the team right away!

First impression of our work: The work was made with so much joy, love, and true genuine thought each step of the way!

What has been the most surprising thing? The most surprising thing that I have experienced is how great the company culture actually is here. I heard great things during the interview process and I am happy to say everything was "true"! In my first week, I felt welcomed with open arms and I was able to really connect with the team members in ways that I didn't know were possible within my first week!

What is your go-to album? SZA - Ctrl

Sam Canvin, Senior Art Director

Sam

Hi Team! I’m Sam, a Brit that’s been living in NYC for the past 6 (or 7?) years touring all the best brunch spots in between working as a creative. I’m in West Harlem with my partner and Mini GoldenDoodle (any other dog parents HMU).

During the pandemic I became a full on plant dad and started my own indoor jungle. You’ll be sure to catch a plant or two in my zoom backgrounds. Also I’ve been trying to figure out this long hair moment and how to do a half decent blow dry. Please send hair care tips and tricks!

First impression of the leadership: Not only are they lovely, But I'm incredibly impressed with how involved leadership is with every project. The way they make time for the work, big or small, is always a good feeling (and they're never late to a meeting!). Not only does it represent how dedicated they are to each and every client, but it also lets the M+S teams know that they care. It really does make all the work, and employees, feel important, valued, and respected.

The background and history of the people at M+S bring a lot of confidence. There's a trust value in the leadership by just looking at their resume and backgrounds of where they came from. You know that everything that they say is coming from a place of real creativity and professionalism.

First impression of the company: I'm incredibly impressed to hear about all the upcoming, behind the scene projects that are being brewed in the background. There's so much more behind the curtain that is incredibly exciting.

First impression of our work: They really do take their tagline of 'Spreading Joy' very seriously. It's ingrained in not only their approach to projects and creative work, but it's in the DNA of every person that works here. You won't catch any crazy egos, only people that care about spreading the joy which is so incredible to see from an agency that is in 'that sort of industry'.

What has been the most surprising thing? I'm surprised by how everyone trusts and supports each other regardless of the project, department, or crazy idea. There is support and confidence behind whoever and whatever comes to the table. And is always treated with respect and then is allowed to be cultivated into the awesome ideas we love to see at M+S!

What is your go-to album? The new Adele album!!
