We've Amassed 100 Billion Views on TikTok

In 2019, we made a big bet on TikTok before most brands had even heard of or considered the platform. Since then, we have brought many brands onto TikTok for the first time, launching challenges that have unleashed viral participation with immense reach. So much so, we just hit 100,000,000,000 views across our TikTok campaigns!! 🤯🎉

100 Billion Views on TikTok Celebration

What?! How do you even wrap your head around that? What does 100 billion views even look like?

People often use “million” and “billion” interchangeably... but the difference is massive. One million seconds is about 12 days, but one billion seconds is about 32 years! That makes 100 billion seconds, 3,200 years.

Let’s say a TikTok video is, on average, 15 seconds. Then 100 billion views means it would take a person 48,000 years to watch 100 billion of those 15 second TikToks. About 48,000 years ago, Homosapiens just started using bows and arrows and inventing tools to hunt.

Or think about it another way. The average price of a home in our headquarters in sunny Santa Monica, CA is about $1.5 million. If you have $100 billion, you could buy 60,000 houses and still have some money left over! Can you even imagine?

So what does getting 100 billion views on TikTok itself actually mean?

When we launch a TikTok challenge, it’s associated with a hashtag. We use the hashtag to track views and user-generated videos created.

When a challenge kicks off, it can have hundreds to thousands to millions of people all creating their own videos to join in. And each of those user-generated videos can get hundreds to thousands to millions of views. When you add up all the views on all videos created for a campaign, that’s how you get to the total number of views per campaign.

TikTok challenges create a snowball effect of video creation and video views. We’re consistently able to engineer challenges to get billions of views!

Since we launched the famous #EyesLipsFace e.l.f. campaign, we’ve created the playbook for generating virality. Through these principles - from understanding Gen Z to creating branded music to selecting the right influencers - we’ve been able to rack up billions of views for our clients. From DSW’s #TooManyShoes campaign (4 billion views) to Warner Bros. Entertainment’s #ScoobDance (7 billion views) to Amazon’s #PajamaJam (6 billion views) to so many more, Movers+Shakers’ TikTok work has now passed 100 billion views

Not every TikTok campaign gets billions of views, so we’re always so happy for our clients when they join the Billionaire’s Club! Interested in joining the Billionaire’s Club yourself? Drop us a line at TikTok@MoversShakers.co
